Samsung Navibot Robot Vacuum with Visionary Mapping System

Samsung is what I would call a good well  known brand. Their Navibot series really looks interesting.
Their "Visionary Mapping System" works by having an onboard camera that takes 30 pictures per. sec. in order to analyse the room and obstacles.

It comes in two versions, the SR-8845 and SR-8855. The 8845 only has a "delay feature" while the 8855 has full scheduling features So watch out when you buy.

SR-8845 seen on german website for 211€

Neato XV-11 Robotic Vacuum System. Smart, Powerful, Methodical

This little beast is perhaps a little ahead of the other vacuum robotics companies. By using a propriarity RPS (Room Positioning System) it litteraly scans the rooms interior before starting to clean. This will give it a "map" of the room so the cleaner knows exactly where to go. Unlike the Roomba which makes several passes the same place over and over, the Nexus only vacuums one place once to optimize efficiency.

Using Rat Brain to build a self learning robot

Mixing rat brain with robots apparently equals a self learning robot.

iRobot Scooba - The floor washing robot.

So is the iRobot Scooba any good?
I dont think so... I dont own one myself but keeping this in mind. changing water, maintenance and combined with its "real life" washing result i wouldnt put money on it. The day when they build a model that can grab water from the faucet by themselves and dispose of the dirty water I might be interested but who am i kidding.
Dont let the overenthusiastic lady in the tv-shop add fool you.

The Roomba Series from iRobot. A Robot vacuum cleaning robot that actually works???

Until recently I have been extremely skeptical of these robotic vacuum cleaners, driving around in what just looked like random patterns and with suction that is not even that of a 1/10 of what a normal vacuum cleaner is capable of. However I felt that I had to try it out since relatives and friends started telling me: "I’m using one and I’m very happy with the results". I went out and bought the iRoomba 560 to see for myself if it really is a serious contender for the old fashioned vacuum cleaner. I know there are tons of other contenders out there but because iRobot has been in the game for a while, I felt confident with my buy. "Hint: stay clear of the cheaper Roomba models since they do not have the scheduling feature."! What can I say… I am now convinced. My floors have never been cleaner, and when I take a snack and forget to bring a plate I am relaxed to know that "Roomba will get that later". Man life just got easier.
